This shop posts $125.00 for body labor. GEICO’s allowance is 45% of it. The gap is not a discount anybody agreed to; it is the difference between what the work is billed at and what the estimate of record allowed.
How this was measured
Every figure comes from an estimate GEICO produced on a real claim, parsed line by line. Rates were taken from the labor lines themselves rather than from a summary block, because a summary can be typed by hand and a line cannot. Where the shop’s own rate appeared inside a carrier document it was removed, since a carrier’s paperwork frequently prints both.

What this cannot tell you
- It is not what you will be paid. It is what GEICO allowed on the documents measured. Your market, your agreement and the specific claim all move it.
- Body and refinish only. No mechanical rate is published here. The mechanical figures in this corpus did not survive removing the shop’s own rate from carrier paperwork, so they are not shown at all rather than shown with a caveat.
- A rate is not a scope. Two estimates at the same rate can differ by thousands on hours and parts, which is where most of an argument actually lives.
